From science to robust, reliable tools: technology meeting the needs of industries.

Turning surface science into modern, high performance technology

Kibron Inc. was established in 1994 by some of the leading pioneers in the field of surface science, headed by Dr. Paavo Kinnunen, reputed for contributions and innovations in scientific instrumentation.  Dr. Kinnunen was the founder of KSV Instruments Ltd. (the "K"), where he designed the first generation of Langmuir- and Langmuir-Blodgett troughs, hundreds of instruments now in use all over the world. Dr. Kinnunen divested himself from KSV Instruments Ltd. in 1988 to develop the next generation of surface chemistry equipment, manufactured and marketed by Kibron Inc. since 1994.

Conventionally, the measurement of surface tension is only possible in well equipped laboratories and requires trained personnel: the measurements are technically demanding and slow to perform. Kibron has changed all this, it has modernized surface tension measurement to allow its use in applications ranging from industrial, automated high throughput screening to portable, battery operated equipment for environmental monitoring, with high reliability, precision, and sensitivity. Kibron products, from Delta-8 to AquaPi, stand out unique: in performance, reliability and user-friendliness. We make robust and reliable industrial tools, from process control to R&D, on-line screening to field measurements, Kibron is your partner of choice.

A new technology was born

After several years of R&D Kibron completed a revolutionary new sensor. In combination with the most accurate measurement principle (maximum pull) the Kibron sensor solved the task and a totally new technology was born, meeting the needs of the industry.

The technology was thoroughly tested in the first Kibron product, the very first miniaturized  multipurpose Langmuir-trough ‘MicroTroughX’, now used in leading-edge laboratories worldwide. MTX was also the first product imitated by our competitors, however, because of our proprietary technology, it remains in a class of its own, with unmatched performance.

Kibron's technology was subsequently integrated into the company's flagship product, the Kibron Delta-8 > the very first high throughput tensiometer using standard 96-well microtiter platform for surface activity measurement. Very small sample volumes could now be measured more than 100 times faster compared to existing techniques, with unprecedented precision.

Multinational companies rely on Kibron technology

Kibron’s technology brings significant advantages for our clients in chemical industries. Optimization of surfactant based formulations in petrochemicals, detergents, cosmetics, agrochemicals and inks, physicochemical profiling of drugs, and general surface chemistry studies can now be accomplished fast and cost-efficiently, bringing better and more competitive products to the market at reduced cost. These are the reasons why global multinational giants rely on Kibron technology, from R&D to process control.

The speed and ease-of-use of Kibron’s technology is, however, available to all areas where surface tension is important and has opened new applications such as environmental monitoring and educational use on all levels: with the portable Kibron AquaPi measurements can be made quickly and easily, practically anywhere.
